Safety statement

It is the responsibility of employees and students of KLMFA to ensure that, through our safety management principles and safety performance targets; we will comply with and wherever possible, exceed legislative and regulatory requirements and standards.

As Accountable Manager, I recognise the importance that our Management System (which combines our Safety Management System and Compliance Monitoring Function) has in ensuring that the highest level of safety standards are achieved and I acknowledge that managing safety is and remains a top priority in all of our activities.

It is the responsibility of all employees and students of KFA to ensure that, through our safety management principles and safety performance targets; we will comply with and wherever possible, exceed legislative and regulatory requirements and standards. Therefore all employees and students have clearly defined accountabilities and responsibilities to ensure that this is achievable and it is imperative that all employees and students, at all levels, understand, implement and maintain the principles contained within our Management System. Furthermore, I am committed to ensure that sufficient competent people are available to implement our Safety Policy by ensuring that all employees are provided with the appropriate safety and compliance information and training to ensure that they are suitably equipped and qualified to carry out their tasks.

In addition, I will ensure that supplied systems and contracted services that have the potential to impact upon the safety of our operations meet appropriate safety and legislative standards by interfacing with the MS.

A positive safety culture is key to safe operations, and I will ensure that the Company continues to enjoy a strong safety ethos throughout. This is underpinned by a commitment to treat all undesired outcomes (events, errors and mistakes) in a transparent and fair manner by ensuring consistent and ‘just’ treatment of all those involved. This will nurture and maintain a culture of mutual trust and open reporting of all safety concerns, incidents and occurrences so that we can learn from such events and improve our level of safety. I will make sure that no actions are taken against employees or students who report or are involved in a safety occurrence or hazard, unless gross negligence or a deliberate or wilful disregard of regulations or procedures is established.
